That is the question…
Hannah, Tommy and finally admitted defeat last night in trying to find a hotel listed in the latest edition of the Footprint guide to Kenya. What a struggle it was to reach that decision though!
Firstly, the listed email address for Jungle Junction didn’t work. This didn’t surprise us much and we’d known about it since before we set off (we’d wanted to book well in advance).
Luckily, the telephone number was listed too, so we decided to give the place a call yesterday to book in. Unfortunately the listed number didn’t work.
So we asked a taxi driver to take us to the hotel, using the directions and address listed in the guide book…..
…an hour and a half later, we gave up looking for it. We asked around the neighbourhood where the place was supposed to be.
No one, not even the local taxi drivers knew where it was. By sheer determination on the part of our driver (who was fairly embarassed not to be able to find a hotel listed in a guidebook that was first printed in November this year, ie a week ago), he managed to find out from directory enquiries of safarinet (vodafone in all but name), that the hotel telephone number did not accept incoming calls.
So, there we have it , a hotel that no one knows, that no one can find and that no one can contact.
I hope its bloody good. Perhaps its for a-list celebs only or something and we didn’t come up to scratch.
To cap it off, we forgot Tommy’s doggie (his best cuddly friend to those who haven’t met him). We were about 30 minutes from the hotel we were staying in and Tommy went in to meltdown for about 30 minutes till we got back to our room
We then decided to go out for dinner, using the guide book for a recommendation.
Guess what. The restaurant had closed down! So far it’s null point for the Footprints guide

Guess What?
I got an email from Jungle Junction today, saying that they have a free room and asking me to call them….I’ve asked for directions just in case we fancy giving it a go another time.

gives the Kenya region information. Trying to find the area on Google Earth. We really need your pix!
To be precise, I quote from the Kenyaweb - Kisumu is Kenya’s main lake port which is situated on the shores of Lake Victoria. The people living in this town are very religious as there are many churches and mosques here. There are many schools here too. This can be attributed to the large population living in this town. The people wear western clothes for everyday use, but for dances and ceremonies they have wonderful costumes: robes of animal skins, masks from woven fibres add head dresses of males, horns and shells. They play many musical instrument: bells, rattles, horns and an eight-stringed harp. -
sounds terrific
