Settling in Part Two

Well, we’ve been in town for about 4 days now and we have a house with a fridge, a fan and a coffee maker….

UPDATED, Images inside!

I know that we haven’t been updating for a the last few days, but we have been busy settling in to our new house. We have a two bedroom house in a nice compound owned by a middle aged couple, just outside the city centre in an area called Milimani.

Our House, in the middle of our (un-named) street

Tommy’s having a whale of a time.

Getting ready to go out

We went swimming yesterday which appears to have made his week.

Splash!

Also, the modes of transport here have him enthralled. There are boda bodas (bicycle taxis) tuk-tuks, matatus and taxis. We’ve used them all apart from matatus. Not sure what he’ll think of them when we eventually get round to using them…I’ll add more detail about what we’re up to, what the place is like, what a Nakumat is, what Boda Bodas are all about and much more later this week. However, Tommy is getting restless here at the “Cyber Cafe”, so that’s it from me for now.

Good to hear from you Phil and Helen. I saw a cloud today, so I think that counts as it being a bit un-settled over here!

I liked the picture of the house. It might have been one of the nice little bungalows on an estate in Bovey. I was imagining you in an adobe hut in a desert with dust floors. Have you even got hot and cold water and electricity? I suppose no phone line to the house and wonder how far you have to go to get your next meal – perhaps a nice little supermarket at the end of the road??
    Best wishes, John
