Out there somewhere is a philanthropic Geek. S/He will have to be from The City.
I hope so! Its a question of finding which geek is interested in what project. There's Mark Shuttleworth's foundation, which is fairly promising. He's in to free/open source software and African education projects. As for the biggies, Bill Gates is only interested in health and big health projects (and so, by default is Warren Buffet) whereas George Soros is in to electoral awareness/voter activation/good governance and other similar schemes.

I'm going to meet with a few people this weekend and will hopefully generate some <strike>leads</strike interest there.

Out there somewhere is a philanthropic Geek. S/He will have to be from The City. This year 1000 of the City financial employees got a million pound bonus. So perhaps a story to Channel 4 - something to lighten the news. Try someone or some organsiation that is not connected to software/hi-tech. You will get there somehow David, you have enough contacts to get publicity.
